Conduct and functioning of Parliament should be worth emulating: PM Modi

New Delhi, July 18 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday said that the functioning of Indian Parliament should be ideal and worth emulating by state legislatures as well.
Talking to reporters on Parliament premises shortly before the commencement of the Monsoon Session, Mr Modi said, "Any member belonging to any party can bring any issue for discussion, the government is ready for debate".
"I hope all members and all the political parties will make optimum use of the time of the session to discuss on issues concerning the country and to carry forward the works keeping national interest in mind," Mr Modi said.
The Monsoon Session of Parliament, that gets underway on Wednesday, will have 18 working days and will continue till August 10.
A series of meetings were held on Tuesday in order to maintain calm and tranquility so that the smooth conduct of the businesses are ensured in both the Houses.
