Concede traders' demands, Kiran Choudhry tells CM

Chandigarh, Jun 26 (UNI) Haryana Congress Legislature Party leader Kiran Choudhry has asked the BJP government, led by Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, to remove the anti-trader provisions in the GST, cut down rates, simplify procedures, launch a training drive, and give the community time to prepare for the new regime, and come on board.
Batting for the cause of the traders who constitute the supply line for the day-to-day goods, the former excise and taxation minister, in a statement here today, said that the BJP government should immediately concede their demands. The Haryana Beopar Mandal has said that if the government does not pay heed to their demands, traders will launch a state-wide agitation soon.
They feel that the GST has several anti-trader provisions, which should be removed before it is introduced in the state. The government plans to introduce the GST to remove multiple slabs of taxes, but the traders will still have to pay market fee. The GST rates are too high. Some commodities such as clothes, sugar, sarees, dhoop and agarbatti, which were earlier exempted from tax, will now come under the ambit of GST, she pointed out.
