Columnist arrrested during Tipu Jayanti, released on bail

Bengaluru, Nov 13 (UNI) The colomust of a local daily Santosh Thammaiah who was arrested by police for his comments in the press that allegedly hurt the religious sentiments during State sponsored Tipu Jayanti on November 10, was released on bail by a local court in Kodagu today.
BJP had strongly condemned the arrest of mediaperson Santosh Thammaiah who faced charges of hurting religioius sentiments.
Thimmaiah was on Tuesday released by Ponnampet court but the BJP alleged that the police induced by ruling coalition politicians had arrested him without proper substance and it amounted to curbing of right of expression of the people to appease a minority community.Superintendent of Kodagu district police Sumana Pannekara said that they have found some evidence of the alleged remarks made by Mr Thammaiah.
