Cold wave intensifies with snow, rain in Himachal's higher reaches, normal life crippled

Shimla, Jan 23(UNI) Cold wave intensified in Himachal Pradesh, after higher reaches received 48 hrs long incessant rain and snowfall, disrupting normal life and throwing traffic completely out of gear. Besides, threat of avalanches are looming large in the state.
This capital town received 44.50 cm fresh snowfall (nearly one and half feet), Tourist resort Narkanda, Sangla in Kinnuar and Dalhousie in Chamba recorded two feet snowfall (60cm) , tourist resort Kufri 55 cm, Kalpa in Kinnuar 40 cm, Kelong 33 cm and tourist resort Manali and Recong-Peo 30 cm.
This capital town recorded two to three feet snwofall in last 48 hrs and most or roads and power supply came to halt. In stokes place and Bamloe power supply remained off forcing people to shiver in the bone chilling nights.
