Lucknow/Bhopal, Jan 24 (UNI) Cold conditions continued in north India on Friday. Braving ice cold water, lakhs of pilgrims took a holy bath at Sangam on the occasion of 'Mauni Amavasya.'
Holy city, Prayagraj, registered a low of 8 deg C. Most parts of Uttar Pradesh recorded below normal temperatures. Lucknow was at 8 deg C, Bareilly and Varanasi saw 7 deg C.
Minimum temperature at most places in Madhya Pradesh fell drastically. Bhopal shivered at 7 deg C, Indore 10 deg C while Jabalpur 8 deg C.
Punjab and Haryana continued to reel under cold. Amritsar shivered at 3.2 deg C, while Hisar at 5.2 deg C. Chandigarh, the common capital of the two states, saw a low of 7.7 deg C.
In the National Capital, people woke up to a cold morning with the minimum temperature settling at 8.2 deg C. The sky remained clear with strong surface winds. With AQI reading of 145, air quality was also better.
