New Delhi, Jan 26 (UNI) Cold conditions prevailed in North India on Sunday as minimum temperature dipped below normal at many places in the region.
Chilly weather conditions further intensified during the day due to overcast conditions across Kashmir valley, which received fresh snowfall during the past 24 hours.
In Ladakh, all water bodies, including lakes and streams, remained frozen due to extreme chilly weather conditions.
Border town of Drass was the coldest place in the region at minus 21.7 degree, followed by Leh, where the mercury settled at minus 12.9 deg C.
Met department forecast light to moderate snow in Ladakh from Monday under the influence of a Western Disturbance active in the region.
Weatherman also warned of heavy snowfall at isolated places and light to moderate snow at most place in the Kashmir valley.
People in Srinagar woke up to a chilly and cloudy Sunday morning. The summer capital on Saturday evening received light snowfall, affecting normal life.
In Himachal Pradesh also, cold conditions continued unabated. Met department has warned of heavy rain and snowfall in the state for Tuesday.
