Ranchi, Nov 10 (UNI) Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das today saidthat the people and the corporate sector need to join hands with thegovernment inorder to remove poverty and usher prosperity in the state.
Addressing a function organised at Kadma Maidan in Sukurhutu ofRanchi where he jointly laid the foundation with Ratan Tata Chairmanof the Tata Trust to construct Ranchi Cancer Hospital and Researchcenter he said that he was personally committed to wipe out the spotof poverty from the state. Mr Das also used the occasion to ask thedoctors to work honestly for the cause of the people.
“If the sahiyas of the state can work honestly why can not thedoctors,” he said, adding that the profession of a doctor is synonymouswith serving the people and asked them to contribute for the society.He said that it was extreme saddening to note that the doctors are notgoing to RIMS and Sadar Hospital but are busy treating the patients inprivate clinics and hospitals while the poor continue to wait for themin government hospitals.
The Chief Minister said that it was a big day for the state as thedemand which he had made to Ratan Tata during the Global InvestorsSummit is now being fulfilled and after two years no one fromJharkhand will be forced to go outside to get treatment done ofcancer. He said that in the entire world research was going todetermine the causes of the cancer but even the western countries tilldate have failed to come out of any concrete reasons behind the disease.
However with the use of equipment and early detection coupled withmodern facilities cancer can be treated Mr Das said adding that 45per cent of cancer is caused due to the use of tobacco and tobaccorelated products and asked the people to refrain from the use oftobacco.
The Chief Minister also use the occasion to urge Ratan Tatato extend help in development of 1000 panchayats in the state incollaboration with the state government and Tata Trust.
“I urge Mr Tata to consider the request of jointly developing the1000 panchayats in the state in the funding pattern of 50:50 which canbe carried out in a phase wise manner,” Mr Das said, adding thatinstallation of street lights in Kolhan and Chaibasa area is also onekey area which would be worked upon.
Mr Das said that soon Tata Motors and Tate Steel will also be part of the
Ayushman Bharat Yojana and can get a health cover of Rs 5 lakh for treatment
of cancer in the state.
