Dharamshala, Jan 19 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur on Wednesday inaugurated the Dharamshala Skyway, a ropeway from Dharamshala to McLeodganj, here in district Kangra.
The 1.8-km-long ropeway costed Rs 207 crore and connects Dharamshala town with McLeodganj, home to the Tibetan administration in exile and known as Little Lhasa.
While interacting with the media, the Chief Minister said work on the ropeway started in 2018 and it has been developed as a public private partnership project by Dharamshala Ropeway Ltd and the Himachal Pradesh Tourism and Civil Aviation Department.
Thakur said the ropeway would go a long way in solving the traffic problem of McLeodganj and prove an added tourists attraction. The ropeway can carry 1,000 persons in one hour in one direction. The time taken by the trolley to reach McLeodganj from Dharamshala would be five minutes.
