CM instructs officials to expedite process of VCs appointment for various varsities in Telangana

Hyderabad, Feb 19 (UNI) Telangana Chief Minister K.Chandrashekar Rao on Wednesday directed the officials concerned to expedite the process of appointing Vice-Chancellors (VCs) of various universities in the state.

In a statement here, Mr Rao also directed that prior to this, the officials should obtain names from the Search Committee and appoint members of the Executive Council immediately.

Through this, the Chief Minister said that the process of appointing VCs could be expedited.

He gave clear instructions that the entire process should be completed within two-three weeks.

It may be noted here that the state government had constituted search committees for appointment of VCs for the nine state universities in September last year.

On July 24, 2019, the government had appointed senior bureaucrats as in-charge VCs of the universities after seven academicians had retired from the post.

However, the term of the ninth VC at Prof Jayashankar Telangana State University was extended by three years earlier.
