Cloudburst in Kashang wreaks havoc; roads disrupted across Himachal

Reckong Peo/Shimla, Aug 15(UNI) A devastating cloudburst on the border of Pangi and Rarang in Kinnaur district late Thursday night has destroyed the Kashang Naihar, crippling the irrigation network for five key villages - Thopan, Swaden, Rarang, Khadra, and Akpa.
The canal, considered a lifeline for farmers and orchardists in the region, was reduced to rubble under the fury of sudden cloudburst-induced flash floods.
Following the disaster, a team from the Krishi Vikas Sangh Rarang, led by President Navratan Negi and General Secretary Ringchen Bisht, inspected the damage and met with Revenue Minister Jagat Singh Negi, urging immediate restoration of the irrigation system. The Minister assured compensation and a swift response.
