Cleanliness drive held in Aurangabad under 'Paryatan Parv'

Aurangabad, Maharashtra, Oct 6 (UNI) As part of the 'Paryatan
Parv' (tourism festival) from October 5 to 25, a cleanliness drive
(abhiyan) was successfully launched at 42 important places in the
city on Friday morning with thousands participating in it.
Among those who participated in the drive were heads of all
government departments, officers and employees, volunteers of the
National Service Scheme (NSS), voluntary organisations and students
from all schools and colleges as well as citizens, said sources.
During the day-long drive, the participants cleaned various places
public and historic places in the city area.
Earlier, divisional commissioner Dr Purushottam Bhapkar inaugurated
the drive in the presence of senior officials.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Bhapkar expressed that the cleanliness
drive will boost tourism in the region.
As per the wish of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, it was necessary to
maintain cleanliness at all the historical places in the country to
attract tourists, he added.
Various competitions, like essay writing and drawing, were also
organised by the Education Department to create awareness among the
people, he added.
An oath of cleanliness was also administered to the participants on
this occasion.
