Civil engineers playing leading role in nation building: Gadkari

New Delhi, Oct 23 (UNI) Union Minister for Road, Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari on Saturday said the civil engineers are playing a leading role in nation building.
Addressing a webinar on 'Innovation, Mechanisation and Modern Techniques in Civil Engineering', Gadkari said, "You (civil engineers) are the architects of New India. Civil engineers are playing a leading role in nation building."
"We cannot develop society without civil engineering. It is a synonym for infrastructure," he added.
Emphasising on the role of civil engineers, Gadkari said, "Complexities in life are increasing day by day which call for use of new technologies. It's high time to accept the new technology."
The Union Minister also said that the Government is committed towards holistic and integrated infrastructure growth because it believes that development alone can bring prosperity in people's life.
"A well developed infrastructure is the backbone of the economy of any country. Our government is committed towards holistic and integrated infrastructure growth
because we believe that development alone can bring prosperity for the people," he said.
Gadkari further said that his Ministry is ready to adopt world best technology in the construction of roads and added that while adopting new techniques, environmental viability and impact assessment study are very important.
Development at the cost of degradation of ecology and environment will never be accepted, he added.
