CII to organise conference on Marine Tourism : The India Opportunities on Jan 27

Panaji, Jan 23 (UNI) Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) will organise a Conference on “Marine Tourism: The India Opportunities” at Candolim in North Goa on January 27.
A statement from CII here on Tuesday said marine tourism was a key trend gaining popularity in the tourism sector both in terms of scope and economic contribution.
''Goa has 105 km of beautiful coastline and more than 255 km of navigable waterways. Being a key destination for domestic as well international tourists, significant potential for development of marine tourism exists in Goa,'' it said.
''The marine tourism industry in Goa comprises of water sports, pleasure boat cruises for picnics, SCUBA diving, snorkeling, line fishing and dolphin watching. Diving is largely centred on the coral reefs present at Grande island, Vasco, as are picnic cruises, while dolphin watching takes place mainly at Sinquerim bay, Aguada, with boats plying from four registered jetties and from different beaches,'' the statement said.
With improving infrastructure and visibility, the western cost of India was being considered by overseas sailors as a sailing and yachting destination, it said, adding responding to the increased market attractiveness, several government entities and private investors had initiated plans to develop suitable infrastructure facilities such as marinas and cruise terminals.
''CII supports the Marine industry by providing platform for government dignitaries, industry professionals and major stakeholders to come together to discuss policies, business, and trends. Our continuing mission is sustainable development of Marine Tourism as an integral part of Goa which is largely under tapped. The event is being co-hosted by Marine Solutions, vClusive & Luxury Hues Group,'' it said.
Highly informative discussions on current topics and industry trends, private sector interaction with the policy makers, business networking opportunities and way forward for development of marine tourism in Goa would be key highlights of the conference.
