CID reaches Mamata's sister's residence in South Kolkata's Kalighat

West Bengal police's Criminal Investigation Department CID) sleuths on Thursday visited a flat in South Kolkata's Kalighat inhabited by former chief minister Mamata Banerjee's sister.
CID sources said the Trinamool chairperson's sister was questioned regarding the controversial 'dj' remarks made by TMC National General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee during the recent Assembly election campaign.
Mamata Banerjee's sister happens to be the aunt of Abhishek Banerjee while her daughter was a core member of his digital campaign team.

AR pays tribute to slain jawan

Dimapur, Jul 14 (UNI) Assam Rifles today paid tributes to Havildar Md Iqbal at its Training Centre and School at 3rd Mile in Dimapur. He was martyred in an IED blast near Sukhovi in Chumoukedima district on Monday.
Leading the wreath-laying ceremony, Assam Rifles DG Lt Gen Vikash Lakhera paid floral tribute to the fallen soldier.

Odisha panel clears premature release of Dara Singh, convicted in Staines murder case

Bhubaneswar, Jul 14 (UNI) The Odisha State Sentence Review Board (OSSRB) has recommended the premature release of Dara Singh, the life convict in the 1999 murder of Australian missionary Graham Stuart Staines and his two minor sons in Odisha's Keonjhar district, citing his "good behaviour" in prison.
The recommendation was made during the Board's meeting earlier this month, where it reviewed the cases of eligible life convicts for possible premature release.
