CID is replacing with Crime Branch in Tripura

Agartala, Oct 12 (UNI) To deal with increasing trend of crime, Tripura government has decided to do away with CID and enforcement branches of state police and replace them with Crime Branch like other big states.
Talking to media, Law Minister Ratan Lal Nath today said that the council of ministers has already approved the proposal and action has been started to revamp the police under newly constituted crime branch.
“As many as 38 posts of sub-inspectors and eight posts of head constables have been created for this. Crime Branch will be entrusted with four areas of crimes like cyber crime, economic offences, narcotics control and serious crimes like crucial murders, planned killing and terrorism,” Nath stated.
The crime branch will be headed by an IG and a DIG while altogether 300 employees would be dedicated initially in the Crime Brach but gradually the number may increase as per requirement' said Ratan Lal Nath.
He further stated that now onwards, the state government employees belonging to classes-I, II and III must submit online account of their assets annually to keep alive their career prospects like promotion and allied other benefits.
In Tripura, the Annual Confidential Records (ACRs) of most of the officers and employees including TCS officers are not recorded in time and they also do not contain accounts of assets owned by them. But this has been made compulsory from now, Nath said adding that IAS, IPS and IFS officers are submitted annually, as required by law but this has become a major shortcoming on the part of state service officers and employees.
