China protests against Azar's Taiwan visit

Beijing, Aug 10 (UNI) Chinese foreign ministry on Monday expressed its displeasure at United States health secretary Alex Azar 's visit to Taiwan.
Spokesperson of the Chinese foreign ministry said Zhao Lijian said that Azar 's act has challenged the 'one China principle. "I would like to stress once again that the Taiwan question is the most important and sensitive issue in China-US relations and that one-China principle is the political foundation of this relationship. The US' act has seriously violated its commitment on the Taiwan question,".
China has always opposed official exchanges between the US and Taiwan and in this instance lodged solemn representations with the US administration.
