New Delhi, Oct 24 (UNI) The deadly vector-borne disease Chikungunya is taking its toll on people in the capital with more than ten thousand people in the grip of the viral fever. According to the official figures released by the municipal corporations today, 10,210 chikungunya cases have come to the fore and out of which 8,149 are confirmed ones. Just last week, 724 cases of the fever have emerged in the capital. This year, the outbreak of dengue is comparatively less as compared to last year. As per figures, 3333 confirmed dengue cases have come to light till October 22. During the last week, 324 people were affected by it. As many as 1,200 people have been taken ill due to dengue in October alone. Four people have succumbed to the fever this year. Last year, more than 15,000 dengue cases had surfaced and 60 lives were lost. Malaria too has acquired dangerous proportions this year. As many as 714 cases of malaria came to notice and six people lost their lives due to the disease. UNI SY RSA AE 1621
