Chidambaram hits back at Jaitley, asks if he supports torture under AFSPA

New Delhi, Apr 4 (UNI) Hitting back against the criticism made by Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Congress election manifesto, former Home Minister P Chidambaram on Thursday, said, “there is no tukhde tukhde gang in the Congress. There is only a flip flop gang in the BJP”.
In a series of tweets, Mr Chidambaram, who was also the chairman of the Congress manifesto committee asked whether the BJP leader supporting the ‘enforced disappearance, sexual violence and torture under the law.
“Is Arun Jaitley supporting 'enforced disappearance, sexual violence and torture'? We say that in these three cases there should be no immunity under AFSPA. What does Mr Jaitley say?”, Mr Chidambaram tweeted.
Earlier, Mr Jaitley criticised Congress manifesto and said it was ‘dangerous’ and appeasing separatists and ‘tukde-tukde’ gang, and that the manifesto will lead to the ‘balkanisation’ of India.
Mr Chidambaram added that Mr Jaitley failed to answer questions on the withdrawal of AFSPA in certain parts of the country under NDA government.
“Why has Mr Jaitley not answered the questions on withdrawal of AFSPA from Tripura (2015), Meghalaya (2018) and parts of Arunachal Pradesh (1-4-2019)?”, the former Union Minister asked.
On Tuesday, Congress had promised major legal reforms such as amendment in Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act, 1958, repeal of sedition and criminal defamation and establishments of National Judicial Commission if the party comes to power in 2019.
