Chhattisgarh: Congress targets Sai govt with no-confidence motion, BJP hits back

Raipur, Jul 17 (UNI) The Chhattisgarh Assembly today witnessed a heated political showdown as the Congress moved a no-confidence motion against the Vishnu Deo Sai government on the final day of the Monsoon Session.
The discussion quickly turned into an exchange of sharp accusations and counter-accusations, with both the Opposition and the Treasury benches defending their respective records. Leader of the Opposition Charan Das Mahant opened the debate, while senior BJP MLA Ajay Chandrakar led the government's response.
Beginning the discussion, Mahant presented a 136-point chargesheet against the BJP government. He described it as a record of broken public trust and administrative failures during its 136 weeks in office. He said the Congress takes decisions through consensus and maintained that the no-confidence motion had become necessary because the government had failed farmers, tribals, women and youth. He charged that, every week of the government's tenure had been marked by decisions that worked against public interest.
