Chhattisgarh CM has narrow escape

Raipur, Feb 29 (UNI) Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh had a close shave today after an eight-seater AgustaWestland AW109 helicopter conveying him here from Sukma District developed a technical snag 15 minutes after take-off at about 1630 hrs and plummeted approximately 100 ft over a forest in Kanker District during a flight here, official sources said.
The Chief Minister was returning along with Tribal Welfare and School Education Minister Kedar Nath Kashyap after inaugurating development projects at the district headquarters.
“The aircraft experienced jerking and plummeted due to a snag in the flight director equipment. However, Captain Sisodia and me brought the situation under control and manually flew the chopper back to the state capital. Our technical team is examining the helicopter and it will be ready for take off tomorrow following repair and trial,” Copilot GK Panda said.
