Raipur, Mar 31 (UNI) Chhattisgarh reported one more Coronavirus positive case after a gap of about 70 hours with which the tally of infections in the state rose to eight.
A 20-year old youth, resident of Korba had returned from Britain recently. He was kept in-home quarantine and his sample was sent to the lab of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Raipur on Monday, which came out positive.
The infected youth is learnt to have been brought to AIIMS Raipur for admission in a special ward.
Out of eight Coronavirus infected patients in Chhattisgarh, four have returned from London tour.
State Health Secretary Niharika Barik Singh recently told all district collectors to put all those returned from Britain (UK) during the last one month in quarantine.
As many as 73 persons in Chhattisgarh returned from London. With this new case, the health department is likely to quarantine all those who returned from the UK last month.
Meanwhile, the state government has begun an effort to increase the number of testing for identifying those infected by Coronavirus. So far samples of 580 suspected Coronavirus infected persons were sent to Raipur and Jagdalpur labs.
The testing of 573 of them was completed.
Persons with foreign travel history particularly those from the United Kingdom are being brought under the purview of screening to curb the spread of Coronavirus infection.
