New Delhi, Oct 6 (UNI) The Delhi Fire Service (DFS) on Thursday found a charred body of a youth on the second floor of a shop in the capital’s Gandhi Nagar garments market where a massive fire broke out on Wednesday, police said.
The deceased was identified as Shehnawaj (19), who apparently got trapped inside the shop when the fire enveloped the area.

The police said that one of the workers at the shop on Nehru Gali stated that after closing the shop on Wednesday he along with four others went near the main road. After five to minutes when they returned, they noticed smoke emitting from the shop.

The worker immediately called his owner and went near the shutter where he realised that his brother Shehnawaj was knocking furiously at the door as he was trapped inside. Other workers outside tried to break the shutter. They succeeded but could not trace the trapped worker.

On Thursday morning, the DFS found the charred body.

A major fire broke out in Gandhi Nagar area. A total of 35 fire tenders were rushed to the spot and over 150 fire personnel battled the flames.
