Charachter, Dedication and Capability must in a leader: Naidu

Ranchi, Feb 16 (UNI) Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu today said that Character,
Dedication, Conduct and Capability are a must in a leader as than only the person
who is leading can dispense his responsibilities and give a positive result to the
society and the country.
Delivering a lecture on 'Leadership and Good Governance In Indian Context'
organised by IIM-Ranchi at the Aryabhat Auditorium here here he said that it is not
necessary that a leader should be associated with politics only and a leader can be
in any field however he should not be biased towards a community, caste or involved
in money making or criminal acts as when a person gets involved in these than they
try to weaken the democracy.
The Vice President said that Kautilya had said that when those who are ruling if
they are responsible than good-governance will be provided to the people.
Mr Naidu said that a ruler should be a servant of his people.
He said that good governance can be only achieved if law and order is maintained,
transparency and responsibility is fixed, an effective system is in place and where
there is no room for corruption.
Mr Naidu said that participation of the people is a must in development works as
people should have faith that they are contributing in the development of the country
and moreover the people should have faith on the democracy.
He said it is beauty of democracy that people are free to air their opinion on any
issue.
The Vice President pointed that not following the constitution and obeying of law
and order disrupts peace which is an obstacle in development as peace is must for
progress.
In his message to the youth he said that India was considered to be Vishwaguru as
people from across the world use to come here for studying and even today the
country was performing better in several areas especially in the field of IT.
He asked the youth to come forward with a better vision and contribute to bring further
laurels for the country and also asked them to raise their voice against corruption.
During the programme the Vice President also answered queries of the students.
Those who also graced the occasion included Jharkhand Governor Draupadi Murmu,
Chairman of Board of Governance of IIM-Ranchi Praveen Shankar and others.
