Chandigarh & Mohali to host first National Masters Games from 3-8, April 2018

Chandigarh, Dec 23 (UNI) International Masters Games Association (IMGA) under the accreditation of International Olympic Committee (IOC) is a worldwide body for the promotion of Masters Sports and conducts sports events in 25 disciplines globally. In India, Masters Games Federation under the aegis of IMGA is conducting the first ever National Masters Games in Chandigarh & Mohali. This is consented today at the General Body Meeting of the Masters Games Federation which was attended by members from 16 states and finally games are awarded jointly to Chandigarh & Mohali which is scheduled from 3-8, April 2018. The games will be attended by over 5000 players competing in ten various sports events.
Addressing a press conference today at Chandigarh Press Club, General Secretary - Vinod Kumar said, the games will exhibit the sporting talents of masters’ athletes. IMGA representatives from Switzerland will be observing the games. “With available resources, we are organizing sports events in Weight lifting, Swimming, Badminton, Lawn Tennis, Table Tennis Football, Hockey, Volleyball and Basketball apart from Athletics.” Informed Vinod Kumar.
Present on the occasion, Dinesh Goyal, Officiating President, said the games will be organized in support with Chandigarh and Punjab Sports Department.
