Chandigarh mayor appeals all to adopt cloth bags to make city "Swachhata Me No. 1"

Chandigarh, Sept 21 (UNI) Mr. Davesh Moudgil, Mayor of Chandigarh today appealed the citizens of Chandigarh to refuse plastic bags and adopt cloth bags. He was addressing the local residents of ward No.11 during “Swachh Ward Campaign” under “Chandigarh Banega Swachhata Me No.1” programme.
The Mayor said that the MCC is in process to provide cloth bags with the help of local NGOs to city residents in nominal rates to avoid plastic bags. He said that people will have to develop habit to reduce, reuse and recycle the waste produced from their households, shops and institutes etc. He appealed them to adopt onsite composting techniques at source level to reduce the Municipal Solid Waste.
