Chandigarh : Fire service day organised by Municipal Corporation

Chandigarh, Apr 14 (UNI) A function was organized to mark the Fire service day by the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation on Sunday at Fire Station, Sector 17.
K K Yadav, IAS, Commissioner, Anil Kumar Garg, Additional Commissioner-cum-Chief Fire Officer and officers of MCC and others laid wreaths at the Martyrs’ Column, in Fire Station, Sector 17 and paid homage to fire brigade jawans. A two-minute silence was also observed in memory of all those firemen in the country who lost their lives while on duty.
With a view to inculcating a sense of fire safety in the minds of all concerned and also to minimize the increased losses due to fire out-breaks in the high rise buildings in urban areas and in industries, a special programme would be initiated during the fire prevention week for survey of fire protections measures taken in these occupancies under fire departments jurisdiction and expert advice will be rendered on the measures required to be taken for ensuring adequate fire safety of the people.
