Chandigarh capital issue: Why now? Why not when in power? SAD (T) asks Badals

Chandigarh, May 1 (UNI) Questioning SAD’s commitment over state’s capital issue, SAD (Taksali) on Wednesday questioned why the Akali’s did not restored Chandigarh to Punjab when they were in power.
The president of SAD (Taksali) Ranjit Singh Brahmpura, who is also the MP from Khadoor Sahib, said that five times chief minister Parkash Singh Badal had been demanding Chandigarh for Punjab when he was out of power and its political opponent Congress party was at the centre.
“However, when Badal had his government in Punjab and its alliance partner BJP was at the centre, they never raised the issue of Chandigarh only to placate the BJP,” he said.
