Chandigarh: 152 school vehicles challaned, 59 impounded

Chandigarh, Feb 24 (UNI) In continuation of the statewide drive against the school buses illegally plying in gross violation of the Motor Vehicle Act and School Vahan Scheme, the Transport Department on Monday checked 521 vehicles across the state, out of which 152 vehicles were challaned vehicles and 59 were impounded.
Disclosing this here, an official Spokesperson of the Transport Department said the Department, in close coordination with the civil and police administration in the districts, has launched a statewide crackdown against the school vehicles, posing a major threat to the safety and security of school children.
He said the Department, during it's two-day vigorous drive conducted on February 7 and 8, checked as many as 7872 vehicles, of which 2680 were challaned and 430 impounded.
