CenturyPly hands out INR 2 lakh to Tata Medical Centre towards treatment and care of under privileged patients of breast cancer

Kolkata, Nov 13 (UNI) CenturyPly, the largest manufacturer of multi-use plywood and decorative including laminates and veneers in India, today announced their contribution of INR 2 lakh to Tata Medical Centre towards care and treatment of unprivileged patients of Breast Cancer.
This contribution is a part of the awareness campaign by Century Laminates (a business unit of CenturyPlyboard India Limited) on social media, outdoor, radio dedicated to motivate women to self-examine lumps and promote the benefits of early detection. The 'Pink Pledge' campaign, which was executed in this October 2019 to mark the breast cancer awareness month, and was a conscious effort at the company's end to motivate women to self-examine for lumps and promote the benefits of early detection.
The campaign was also addressed men asking them to encourage the women in their lives to take the #PinkPledge.
The campaign met with resounding success, and the company is delighted to do their bit by handing over a cheque of Rs. 200000 to Tata Medical Center, a stellar and respected name particularly in this field. This monetary contribution towards the cause is an adjunct to this core objective of the 'Pink Pledge' campaign and will be used for the care and treatment of unprivileged patients of Breast Cancer.
With approximately 1.15 million women being diagnosed with breast cancer in 2018 and only about 50% chance of survival, early detection is significantly critical to decrease mortality rates. According to WHO, one in every 12 women is at risk of a breast abnormality.
On the occasion, Ms. Sanjana Bhajanka representing Century Laminates, said, "Breast cancer is the largest cause of cancer deaths in women today, where 90% of women in a global scale detect breast lumps accidentally and not by a conscious effort. As a responsible entity, we care deeply about this issue and are committed to our role in the fight against breast cancer."
Mr. V.R. Ramanan, Deputy Director, Tata Medical Centre, added, “This was an wonderful initiative by CenturyPly to create awareness, especially in the most common cancer effecting women today in the country and sadly effecting more younger women. With the given population of young women and women across the country and especially in the city, it is the initiative of such organizations, which go long way ahead to create awareness about this disease. I strongly believe that awareness is the most important single step one can do to detect this disease early, and if detected early, it can be treated properly and then one can live a happy life forever. Our hearty congratulations to CenturyPly for creating this awareness and running it across the country for the past few weeks. Wonderful, Keep it up.”
