Centre-State bonhomie on display as Suvendu, Vaishnaw announce mega rail push for Bengal

Kolkata, June 6 (UNI) The changing political equations in West Bengal appeared to usher in a new phase in Centre-State relations on Saturday as Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari and union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw held a high-level meeting at Nabanna and announced a series of major railway projects for the state, including a proposed bullet train corridor between Siliguri and Delhi.
Vaishnaw began his Kolkata visit with an inspection of Metro Railway projects before proceeding to Nabanna, where he held extensive discussions with the Chief Minister.
According to sources, the meeting focused on expediting several pending railway projects in the state and preparing a roadmap for future expansion.

Bengal: Six-year-old raped for more than a year; Cousin arrested

Kolkata, Jul 10 (UNI) A 27-year-old man working as a sales executive in a private company has been arrested for allegedly raping his six-year-old cousin for over a year.
The police identified the man as Rajib Biswas.
The girl was taken to the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital on Thursday after she complained of pain and discomfort in her private parts to her parents, police sources said.
