Nagpur, Aug 14 (UNI) Union Minister Nitin Gadkari stated on Wednesday that Indian government's decision of scrapping Article 370 pertaining to Jammu & Kashmir was a befitting reply to Pakistan-backed militancy.
While addressing the students' gathering here on occasion of the mass recitation of the song 'Vande Mataram', he said with the scrapping of Article 370 from Jammu & Kashmir, the Narendra Modi-led government has given a befitting reply to militants and "Pakistani infiltration activities" in the Kashmir Valley.
"By taking decision of revoking Article 370, we have given a strong reply to Pakistan's infiltration activities in Kashmir. Today, the dreams of all Indians are truly fulfilled," he said.
"Every year we celebrate our Independence Day, but this time it will be celebrated with much more enthusiasm in view of the Centre's decision to revoke special status of Jammu & Kashmir", the senior BJP leader said.
'Everyone should resolve to fulfill the dream of 'united India', Mr Gadkari said, adding that there is peace in Kashmir and in a way the terrorists have got a strong reply from India.
Actor-turned-politician Sunny Deol, Mayor Nanda Jichkar, legislators Sudhakar Kohle, Vikas Kumbhare, Ramdas Ambatkar and other dignitaries were present on the occasion.
