New Delhi, May 16 (UNI) The Supreme Court on Thursday issued notice to the Union of India on petitions seeking a direction to the Centre for 10 percent reservation for the Economically Weaker Section category in this year's Central Teacher Eligibility Test.
The petitioners stated that they are from the EWS of the society and are candidates aspiring to appear in CTET 2019. So there should be a quota for them.
Headed by Justice Indira Banerjee, the vacation bench sought a reply from the Centre on the petition filed by one Rajneesh Pandey and others.
The vacation bench had initially dismissed the petition for a direction to the Centre for 10% quota for EWS in CTET.
However, later in the day, on Monday, the apex court had recalled its order of dismissal.
Today, the Supreme Court admitted the plea and issued notices to the Centre and Central Board of Secondary Education.
July 1 was set for further hearing.
