Central govt killed MGNREGA: Karnataka DCM Shivakumar

Bengaluru, Jan 13 (UNI) Deputy Chief Minister and KPCC President DK Shivakumar on Tuesday accused the BJP-led Central Government of "killing" the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MNREGA), calling it the most significant programme for rural development in India.
He warned that the programme’s dismantling would adversely affect millions of rural families in Karnataka.
Addressing a preparatory meeting for the "MGNREGA Save Struggle” at Palace Grounds, Shivakumar said that MGNREGA had been a lifeline for the poor, providing guaranteed employment, ensuring minimum wages, and supporting Panchayati Raj institutions in implementing local development works.
