Ambassa (Tripura), Apr 16 (UNI) Celebration of New Year by the Bengali community as well as the Chakma tribe in different areas hinders election campaign in East Tripura parliamentary constituency here yesterday.
Throughout the state the new year celebration of Bengali community as well as the Chakma tribe was observed.
As the election for East Tripura parliamentary constituency is merely 48 hours away from the campaigns it is hoped of whirling campaign from contesting political parties. But except for some small meetings, no big rally or gathering was observed.
People remain busy in observing their new year. New clothes, sharing of sweets and wishes, expectations for a brighter and better year, feasts as well as traditional and cultural celebrations mark the day.
Local media houses also observe the holiday and no issue is published on the day. The political tycoons also remained busy in extending wishes to party men and rank and file.
