Celebrations surpass election campaign: Tradition takes high

Ambassa (Tripura), Apr 16 (UNI) Celebration of New Year by the Bengali community as well as the Chakma tribe in different areas hinders election campaign in East Tripura parliamentary constituency here yesterday.
Throughout the state the new year celebration of Bengali community as well as the Chakma tribe was observed.
As the election for East Tripura parliamentary constituency is merely 48 hours away from the campaigns it is hoped of whirling campaign from contesting political parties. But except for some small meetings, no big rally or gathering was observed.
People remain busy in observing their new year. New clothes, sharing of sweets and wishes, expectations for a brighter and better year, feasts as well as traditional and cultural celebrations mark the day.
Local media houses also observe the holiday and no issue is published on the day. The political tycoons also remained busy in extending wishes to party men and rank and file. Common people also interested in the enjoyment and celebration with their families and relatives. Actually, the tradition and heritage surpass clash of titans.
In the district and other parts of the East Tripura parliamentary constituency, the day seems much away from election battle busy in a happy mood of observation and celebration.
