Celebrating centenary year of India's participation in Olympics

Pune, Aug 12 (UNI) Celebrating the Centenary Year of India's participation in Olympics, the city of Pune will witness a gathering of the city's Olympians at Deccan Gymkhana Club tomorrow
A press release issued by Abhay Chhajed, President pune district Athletic Association said that Adille Sumariwala (Moscow Olympics, 1980, Anjali Bhagwat (Sydney Olympics 2000), Rekha Bhide-Mundphan (Moscow Olympics 1980), Manoj Pingale (Seol Olympics 1988), Nikhil Kanetkar (Athens Olympics, 2004) and Balkrishna Akotkar (Tokyo Olympics, 1964) will be felicitated during the function.
He said that Ajit Lakra (Barcelona Olympics, 1992), Vikram Pillay (Athens Olympics, 2004) and Lalita Babar (Rio Olympics 2016) have also been invited for the event. The event is being jointly organised by Deccan Gymkhana Club and the Pune District Athletics Association. The Indian Olympics Association met at Deccan Gymkhana hundred years ago to finalise and field the first Indian team at the Antwerp Olympics in 1920.
