Bridgetown, Nov 30 (UNI/Sputnik) Robyn Rihanna Fenty, the celebrated singer and Barbadian ambassador, was conferred with the status of a national hero of the Republic of Barbados, which completed the withdrawal from under the British crown and abandoned the British monarch as its head of state on Tuesday.
Rihanna's designation took place at the inauguration ceremony of Barbados' first president, Sandra Mason, who previously served as Governor-General.
"Ambassador Robin Rihanna Fenty has given service to Barbados which has been exemplified by extraordinary achievement. May you continue to shine like a diamond and bring honor to your nation," Barbadian Prime Minister Mia Mottley said during the ceremony, quoting Rihanna's song.
