Madurai, Sep 26 (UNI) The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Saturday filed a combined chargesheet in two cases before the Madurai Chief Judicial Magistrate Court against 9 suspended police personnel in connection with the custodial deaths of traders P.Jayaraj and his son J.Bennicks.
The CBI had registered two cases on July seven related to the allegations of custodial death of the father-son duo on the request of Tamil Nadu government and further notification from the Central government, and taken over the investigation of both the cases registered at Kovilpatti East Police Station in Thoothukudi district.
The CBI Special Crime Unit-II team, New Delhi led by Additional Superintendent of Police Vijay Kumar Shukla camped continuously at Madurai and conducted a detailed probe even through the odds of Coronavirus Pandemic.
