New Delhi, Sep 11 (UNI) A Superintendent of CGST in Hayana's Rohtak city was arrested for allegedly demanding bribe, Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) said here on Tuesday.
According to the CBI, Sudesh Kumar, Superintendent, working in the office of Commissioner, CGST Commissionerate, Rohtak in Haryana was arrested after a case was registered under section 7 A of PC (Amendment) Act, 1988 on a complaint alleging that he had initially demanded a bribe of Rs10 lakh in lieu of not imposing CGST on the sale of rice by the complainant’s firm.
The CBI said it was further alleged that the complainant met accused and during their meeting, the accused brought down the demand of bribe to Rs Eight lakh. However, the complainant allegedly paid Rs One lakh to the accused, who in turn told the complainant to pay remaining Rs Seven lakh at earliest.
