New Delhi, Feb 21 (UNI) A former Joint Director of Enforcement Directorate JP Singh has been arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation in a corruption case registered against him, the Agency spokesperson said today. He said that three others which included an ED official Sanjay Kumar and two middlemen (Vimal Agrawal and Chandresh Patel) were also arrested today after a case was registered against them on the directions of the Finance Ministry on 23 September, 2015. All of them were apprehended from the national capital. The Agency has booked them under criminal conspiracy of Indian Penal Code and Prevention of Corruption Act. "It has been alleged that certain officers of Enforcement Directorate while investigating the cases of money laundering in betting and other such activities have allegedly demanded and accepted huge illegal gratification from the accused and suspect persons in the said cases. Huge bribe amount was allegedly taken by these officers as quid pro quo for various acts of omission and commission," the CBI said in a statement released on September 23, 2015.
