Bengaluru, Sep 27(UNI) In the wake of Supreme Court taking up the Cauvery river water sharing case between Karnataka and Tamil Nadu today, the authorities in the city have ordered promulgation of prohibitory orders under Section 144 of CrPC. Police security has been tightened with requisitioning of more force, including Central forces while check posts at Tamil Nadu borders have been set up as a precautionary mesure. City Police Commissioner N S Megharik announced clamping of Prohibitory orders under Section 144 in the City banning carrying arms, lethal weapons, taking out processions, assembly of more than five persons, making provocating speeches and other activities which disturbs peace in the society. In the checkposts on the border villages, additional forces were deployed and vehicles were allowed to pass through after a through check. State Police were assisted by 14 companies of Central force which had arrived in the City last week following widespread arson and violence following Supreme Court directing release of 6,000 cusecs of water to Tamil Nadu daily from September 21 to 27. The issues that may come up for hearing before the Apex Court includes Karnataka government's appeal for reconsidering its September 20 order to release 6,000 cusecs of water daily for one week from September 21, resolution passed in both the houses of the the Karnataka Legislature restricting drawing water from River Cauvery for drinking purpose only, Tamil Nadu government has also moved contempt petition and pressing for release of water to save sanding Samba crop.
