Caste survey extended by 10 days, says DK Shivakumar

Bengaluru, Oct 7 (UNI) Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar today said the Karnataka government has decided to extend the deadline for the ongoing caste-based household survey by ten days, following requests from officials and limited participation in several urban areas.
Speaking to media, Shivakumar said the data collection under the Karnataka State Commission for Backward Classes had started late in Greater Bengaluru and other regions, resulting in only 20-30 per cent completion in some areas, while participation in others remained below expectations.
"The authorities requested additional time to complete the survey. Hence, we have extended it by ten more days," he said, adding that a holiday will be declared for all government and aided schools across the state to facilitate staff participation in the survey. "This does not apply to private institutions or PUC colleges where examinations are underway," he clarified.
