Candle march taken out to protest Kathua, Unnao incidents

Panaji, Apr 15 (UNI) Students Islamic Organisation of India (SIO) Goa Zone in collaboration with Association for the Protection of Civil Rights (APCR – Goa Chapter) and other peace loving organisations took out a peaceful candle march from Miramar to Azad Maidan in the city on Sunday.
The march attended by around 700 people was to show the unity among fellow citizenship towards non-acceptability of the 'unjust attitude' of the law enforcing authorities.
Speaking on the occasion, Asim Shaikh, State President, SIO Goa Zone, said, ''The recent incidents of shame which caught national uproar involved abduction, rape and murder of a young Muslim girl hailing from Kathua, Jammu and Kashmir, an unidentified body which was found in Surat Gujrat today and the rape of a Dalit girl in Unnao of Uttar Pradesh whose father has been beaten to death in the custody. In all the cases, the powerful and mighty perpetrators have brought in the shame to the whole country.''
