HP witnessing seasonal surge in H1N1 cases during monsoon period: Expert

Hamirpur, Aug 30 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh is witnessing a seasonal surge in influenza A (H1N1) cases during the monsoon period, said Dr Naresh Purohit, Principal Investigator for the National Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (NIDSP), adding that while heightened vigilance is necessary, "there is no cause for panic". Speaking to the reporters, the noted Epidemiologist Dr Purohit informed that H1N1, commonly referred to as swine flu, is a respiratory infection caused by the influenza A (H1N1) virus.
