Cancer specialist Dr M C Pant passes away

Lucknow, Aug 13(UNI) Eminent cancer specialist Dr M C Pant, a Padmashri awardee, ,died here today, following a prolonged illness. He was around 65.
Family sources here said Dr Pant was suffering from cancer for the past six months and died at his Jiamau residence in the state capital this morning.
Dr Pant was a well-known Cancer specialist and former Head, Radiotherapy Department, King George Medical University, Lucknow. He was awarded Padma Shri in 2008. He was also the head of the department in Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences and was presently running the private Lucknow Cancer Institute.
He was also given several national and international awards and received Dr Bidhan Chandra Roy award in 2005. He was also the patron of Parvartiya Parishad, an organisation of the natives of Uttarakhand.
Meanwhile, several doctors and eminent people have expressed their condolence on the death of Dr Pant.
