Cancer reached at critical stage in Tripura

Agartala, Feb 4 (UNI) Hepatitis Foundation of Tripura (HFT) today observed National Cancer Day by organising cancer detection camps and awareness about the disease across all 16 major government hospitals, including the Agartala Government Medical College an Hospital (AGMC).
Releasing data, HFT officials stated that on an average three people die everyday in Tripura due to cancer and about 63 per cent of the population is suffering from the disease belong to age group of 35-64 years.
"Cancer has emerged as the biggest killer in Tripura now. In 2014, officially 996 cancer deaths were recorded in the state, which were 676 in 2010. Similarly, the figure of cancer-affected people has reached 2258 in 2015, which was 1728 in 2010," said HFT Secretary Dibakar Debnath.
