Cancel NOC to PIMS for not providing MBBS seats to locals: BJP to Lt.Guv

Puducherry, Oct 2 (UNI) Taking strong exception to the failure of the Pondicherry Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) here in not providing first year MBBS seats to local students as agreed, the Puducherry unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party today urged Lt.Governor Kiran Bedi to cancel the NOC granted to it.
In a statement here today, Party State President Saminathan alleged that this year the intake at PIMS was enhanced by 50 seats, making it to 150 seats for first year MBBS. As such, PIMS will have to part with 18 seats as government quota. However, no government quota was provided from the 50 enhanced seats, he said, adding that this happened because of the nexus between Chief Minister V Narayanasamy and the Private Medical College management. Thus, the Chief Minister had “cheated” the people of Puducherry, he added.
Mr Saminathan demanded that the private medical colleges here should respect the directions of the Supreme Court that PG admissions should be based on the ranks of NEET.
