Campbell, Hope stage brave fightback in Delhi

New Delhi, Oct 12 (UNI) After a bruising morning that left them reeling, the West Indies roared back in the evening with fire and resolve, reaching 173 for 2 by stumps in their second innings as John Campbell's unbeaten 87 and Shai Hope's composed 66 reminded everyone that when Caribbean batsmen trust their instincts, even India's finest must wait their turn.
It all started ugly — 35 for 2 at tea, the same old story brewing. But something changed after the break. Campbell and Hope, two men under pressure, decided to fight fire with timing, placement, and a touch of Caribbean swagger. From the moment Hope got down on one knee to slog-sweep Washington Sundar into the stands at midwicket, fans knew this wasn't going to be another collapse.
Campbell, calm and clever, picked his moments. He danced down to Kuldeep Yadav and lofted him straight for his first fifty of the series — the first by any West Indian in this entire contest. Then came that brutal sweep through square leg, the kind that makes bowlers question their line, length, and life choices.
