Cal High Court orders stakeholders to resolve logjams on Kolkata Metro stretch

Kolkata, Dec 12 (UNI) Expressing its disappointment over delay in executing the work for completing a 366-meters stretch of Kolkata Metro at Chingrighata in the eastern part of the city, Calcutta High Court has directed the West Bengal government, the Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) and other stakeholders to hold a meeting on December 17 and decide on when work on the unfinished part is to be taken up.
It was alleged that the city police had not given clearance of "no objection" to the executive agency (RVNL) fearing traffic jams on the busy stretch at Chingrighata where the concrete blocks is to be lifted to connect the bridge. It was earlier decided in the second and third weeks of November following a previous undertaking between the stakeholders after the court intervened
Calcutta High Court's division bench headed by Acting Chief Justice Sujay Paul and Justice Partha Sarathi Sen today directed state Advocate General Kishore Datta to submit names for a fresh meeting between state and railway officials and the Police.
