CAIT demands Govt promulgate ordinance to check sealing in Delhi

New Delhi, Sep 21 (UNI) After the intensifying sealing drive by monitoring committee in Delhi and the Supreme Court deferring the matter of Master Plan amendments to February 2019, the Confederation of All India Traders has demand that the Central government promulgate an Ordinance to protect the city from sealing.
The CAIT has also called for a one time amnesty scheme which means status quo should be maintained as on December 31, 2017 and violations if any should be condoned by levying certain reasonable charges.
The CAIT, therefore, sent a communication to Union Urban Development Minister Hardeep Puri and Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh calling for their immediate interference in the matter.
To register strong protest against sealing, the CAIT has already called for a Delhi Trade Bandh on September 28, when all major markets of Delhi will be closed.
CAIT Secretary General Praveen Khandelwal urged Mr Puri and said the monitoring committee has recently issued orders to seal all farmhouses and motels immediately which will pose a big social problem as thousands of wedding and other functions are already fixed to be solemnised in these farmhouses. If they are sealed, the people of Delhi will run into a great trouble.
Mr Khandelwal added that although master plan is amended by the government about four months ago, so far Delhi has not got even a single relief nor any shop has been desealed. It has been about nine months now that a large number of shops still remained sealed and traders were at the verge of starvation. Since the matter in court is deferred till next year, it will be highly difficult for the traders to survive.
Under the circumstances, promulgation of an Ordinance with an amnesty scheme was the only option available to provide relief to traders from sealing. The Government must rise to the occasion and take immediate steps, Mr Khandelwal said.
