New Delhi, Feb 13 (UNI) Welcoming the CAG report on contentious Rafale deal in Parliament, Union Minister and senior BJP leader Arun Jaitley on Wednesday said it cannot be that only the dynast (Congress) is right.
“Satyameva Jayate” – the truth shall prevail. The CAG report on Rafale reaffirms the dictum,” Mr Jaitley tweeted soon after the CAG report on the Rafale combat aircraft deal was tabled.
In a series of tweets, Mr Jaitley said, “It cannot be that the Supreme Court is wrong, the CAG is wrong and only the dynast is right. …How does democracy punish those who consistently lied to the nation?”
He added that the CAG report has made comparison between 2016 and 2017 terms and found the 2016 negotiations are lower price, faster delivery, better maintenance and lower escalation.
“The lies of ‘Mahajhootbandhan’ stand exposed by the CAG Report,” he said in another tweet.
The CAG report, tabled by Minister of State for Finance P Radhakrishan in Parliament, has endorsed the government claims of better negotiations vis-a-vis the UPA regime and said the government could ink the deal at 2.86 per cent cheaper than what was decided earlier.
The CAG also recommended that the Defence Ministry needs to revisit the process of acquisition to 'get rid of redundant activities and simplify the process'.
