New Delhi, Jul 17(UNI) The Union Cabinet on Wednesday approved three projects for improving
rail connectivity in different states, including the construction of a new line between Sahjanwa and Dohrighat at an estimated cost of Rs 1,319.75 crore.
Announcing the Cabinet decisions here, Railway Minister Piyush Goyal said the project relating to Sahjanwa and Dohrighat will be completed by 2023-24 and executed by Construction Organisation of North Eastern Railway.
The Cabinet also okayed the construction of 150 km long third railway line between Allahabad and
Mughalsarai at a cost of Rs 2,649.44 crore. The project will be completed by 2023-24.
In a boost to rail connectivity in Assam, doubling of “New Bongaigaon - Agthori via Rangiya”
railway line (142.97 km) will go through New Bongaigaon, Baksa, Barpeta, Nalbari
and Kamrup districts, Mr Goyal said.
